It seems like an already hot summer has more heat packed on the big screen. Warner Brothers released the final trailer of The Kitchen, giving us a look of Tiffany Haddish, Melissa McCarthy and Elisabeth Moss going to war. Set in the late ‘70s, the movie stars the iconic trio as wives of Irish mobsters who are forced to fend for themselves after their husbands are arrested.
Adapted from the comic book of the same name by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle, ‘The Kitchen’ follows the story of Melissa McCarthy’s Kathy, Tiffany Haddish’s Ruby and Elisabeth Moss’s Claire, who are married to members of the Irish mafia circa 1978. When their husbands get imprisoned by the FBI, the three mob wives step in and take business matters into their own hands. As it turns out, they are exceptionally good at being mobsters; so good that their business associates (mostly males) come to see them as a threat. The movie, helmed by Andrea Berloff pushes away the idea of a typical mob movie and offers a bold new narrative – one that is centered on women.
With less than a month to go before ‘The Kitchen’ hits the theatres, Warner Bros. has teased our impatience once again as it released the final trailer of the crime thriller. The movie is expected to first release on August 9.
