The Cecil B deMille award is given annually to an individual who has made a lasting impact on the world of entertainment. “For more than three decades, he’s captivated audiences with rich and playful characters,” said Lorenzo Soria, the organisation’s president. “As compelling as he is on the silver screen, he’s equally so behind the camera as a writer, producer and director.”

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) said it was “proud” to be felicitating the star, adding that they have “grown to love and admire” the actor.

If you’re waiting for more from the actor you should know that Tom Hanks’ historical drama News Of The World, adapted from the book of the same name, has got a Christmas 2020 release date. Moreover, he will next be seen on the big screen in A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood playing US children’s television host Fred Rogers.
