Vivek Oberoi has been roped in the film to play an antagonist. While the film marks his first foray into Malayalam cinema, his work was lauded by the director Prithviraj Sukumaran. At a recently held press conference, Prithviraj commeded the actor’s work.
Frankly, even when I cast Vivek in the role, I had my doubts. But, to his credit, he stood up to Mohanlal’s legend.
While the first trailer was released earlier this month, building up anticipation to the film’s release; the film is already garnering great reviews from viewers. Touted to be a ‘magnum opus’, Lucifer is one of the biggest releases for any South movie worldwide, as tweeted by Ramesh Bala. Other tweets from reviewers and trade analysts also shared the same sentiment.

Actor Mohanlal, who plays the titular role in the film, talked about working with Prithviraj for his first venture as director at a recently held press meet.
This is my 40th year in the industry and I have done more than 350 films. Since I started understanding cinema better, I was able to identify people who love cinema. Even as I have not acted along with him, I have known Prithviraj since he was young. He is very passionate about films.
To be seated beside the legends! ❤️ Thank you #Ikka for your humbling words on #Lucifer 🙏 pic.twitter.com/oPKHPlKhYh

Lucifer appears to be a film that is a political thriller by genre, but devoid of any political agenda thereof. Prithviraj Sukumaran, too, in a recently held Facebook live session, said, “The connotation of Lucifer is not straight forward in this film. It has been written in a contorted way.”
