The shoot for Mira Nair’s dream adaptation of Vikram Seth’s ‘A Suitable Boy’ is already in progress in various parts of Lucknow. Turns out there are a few more additions to the film’s cast. The makers announced three new cast members – including none other than ‘Bade Acche Lagte Hain’ star Ram Kapoor!

Ram Kapoor too shared his look, along with an official announcement of the project that he is being a part of. He was excited to be a part of the series, as he said in a statement about his role, “I play Mahesh Kapoor in the series, a veteran politician who is not only a patriot, but also a reformist at the same time. He’s a character with multiple shades and layers, and I’m looking forward to getting under his skin.” Interestingly, Nair and Kapoor have previously worked together twice, in Monsoon Wedding and Words with Gods.
Shahana Goswami and Vivek Gomber will also join the project in vital roles. Rock On! actor Shahana Goswami spoke about the collaboration, “It’s been a dream to work with Mira since I was a kid and there couldn’t be a better project to be able to collaborate with her… ” Gomber also said, “I am a huge fan of Mira and her films and I feel incredibly lucky to have got the job. I hope I can do justice to the role of Arun Mehra, Mira’s vision and of course Vikram Seth’s book.”
Apart from these actors, the series also stars Tabu, Ishaan Khatter and newcomer Tanya Maniktala in lead roles. It is a six part series is set in North India in 1951. The story is based on the tale of four large families.
