Oh Rozy Korea’s Top Virtual Influencer On Her New Album and Plans To Visit Mumbai
“Would you like to interview Oh Rozy, S Korea’s first virtual influencer?”
I was intrigued, to say the least and even fascinated since Rozy had been creating waves ever since her inception. Her impeccable style quotient, athletic body, and globe trotting adventures were quite the talk of the town. With over 160,000 followers on Instagram, the multi hyphenated Rozy is a singer, dancer, DJ, and an entrepreneur as well. She is a strong advocate for environmental protection, endorsing a sustainable life.
Rozy was as real as it gets in the unreal world of social media algorithms and trends.
Forever 22, yes she is just 22 years old and is the brainchild of Seoul based Sidus Studio
X. In two years she has not only landed endorsements deals with top brands but was also appointed ambassador for the Busan Expo in October 2022, alongside Squid Game’s Lee Jung-jae and K-pop megaband BTS.
We chatted with Rozy on her new album, cosmetic range and plans to visit India.
GT: Rozy a big welcome to you from India. So, for those who may not be aware of you, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
Rozy: Dear Good Times readers,
Hello, I’m Rozy, the first virtual influencer in Korea. My full name is “Ohrozy,” which means “only one person.” It sounds like an English name, but it’s a pure Korean name. Age is forever 22 years old! MBTI is ENFP, a lively activist type, and its specialty is traveling beyond time and space like a virtual human being. It’s nice to meet you like this!
GT: You are releasing your second mini album. Tell us about it. What are your influences and
inspiration? Who are the artists you are inspired by?
Rozy: Since the release season was summer, I thought it would be perfect for listening to lightly when you’re tired of the summer heat. So, I collected K-POP data related to summer and released summer songs in the style the public wanted. Rather than being inspired by a specific artist, I focused on the songs my fans wanted to hear.
GT: K Pop band Aespa has four human members and four avatars. What do you make of this trend? And what synergy does this collaboration create? Even Blackpink created their virtual twins?
Rozy: This trend means that the area where virtual humans can be active in the music industry can develop endlessly, so I think it is an opportunity for new activities. In addition, it will be a positive development for everyone as consumers can enjoy more diverse and evolving high-quality music content of the music.
GT: You have participated in fashion weeks and are also launching eco-friendly cosmetics called ‘teenzyrozy’. what are Rozy’s fashion ideology and style quotient?
Rozy: The MZ generation I belong to has been growing up feeling environmental pollution since birth, so launching ‘TEENZYROZY’ as an eco-friendly cosmetic was not an option but a must.
The same goes for Fashion. It affects the environment by consuming many clothes in various styles. So, I’m trying to design virtual costumes myself. I’m sure Virtual Fashion can be an eco-friendly fashion field that doesn’t require the fabric to make clothes, doesn’t need to run factories, and doesn’t generate garbage such as packaging.
GT: Korea has become a hot spot for virtual influencers, and you are one of the
trailblazers. What has contributed to their growing popularity?
Rozy: Since I am Korea’s No. 1 virtual influencer, I can say that. Right? Haha, When I first came into the world, there was no concept of virtual influencers in Korea. So, I had to experience them individually and find them myself. What to do, how to live. And I feel proud and responsible simultaneously because this process is becoming a compass for other Korean virtual humans.
GT: What do you think has contributed to the growing popularity of Korean Pop Culture from K-Pop, K Drama, K Beauty, and now influencers like you? What’s the challenge ahead?
Rozy:I think the Korean system with quality and speed played a role. When good content comes out in Korea, the other side creates better content to go beyond it. It’s also speedy. I think it’s the result of Koreans’ unique competitiveness and sincerity. Wouldn’t the Korean Wave have started as the world recognized and consumed the quality? I don’t want to stay just as an influencer, either. My goal is to become a multi-career artist who creates various attributes.
GT: Your favorite Idol/Actor?
Rozy: There are so many artists I like. If I have a chance, I’d like to perform in the wilderness
with ae AESPA, who are active in the same virtual worldview as me!
GT: Do Any plans to visit India?
Rozy: Of course! There are a lot of Indian followers I have. While communicating with them through social media, I learned that Mumbai in India is the home of the world’s largest film industry and the city of Indian art. It was awe-inspiring as a country of arts and crafts! If I ever visit India, I really want to go on a Bollywood tour with my fans. Fans in India, please continue to support us. It was nice meeting you today.
