Squid Game Creates History At The Emmys; Ted Lasso, White Lotus & Succession Win Big
The Primetime Emmy Awards that took place on Monday honoured some of the finest artists of the entertainment industry at an award ceremony which was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
To begin with, Squid Game won six awards at the event. The series earned 14 nominations, including the Best Drama. Out of 14 nominations, the survival drama won six awards. The show created history by winning two major awards – one for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and one for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series.

Lee Jung-jae created history by winning the award for the lead actor in a drama series for his role in Netflix’s Squid Game.
With this, the actor became the first Asian actor to ever win lead actor in a drama series at the Emmys, and the fourth Asian actor to ever win an acting Emmy.
That’s not all. Hwang Dong-hyuk won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series in Squid Game. He won the trophy for the episode Red Light, Green Light. Zendaya, on the other hand, won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Euphoria.

With this, Zendaya became the first black woman to win the Best Actress award in a Drama Series twice.
‘White Lotus’ was named the winner for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. In fact, the series won 5 of the most major awards for the night, including supporting prizes for Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge, and both writing and directing honors for Mike White.

Moving on, ‘Succession’ won the award for the Best Drama Series. Apart from that, the series won the trophy for Supporting Actor in a Drama (Matthew Macfadyen) and creator Jesse Armstrong took home the trophy for Best Writing for a Drama Series. “
‘Ted Lasso’ won the award for the Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (MJ Delaney).

Jason Sudeikis won the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Ted Lasso, whereas Jean Smart took home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks.
HBO recorded the biggest wins of the night with trophies for Mike White (Succession), Zendaya (Euphoria) and Jennifer Coolidge (White Lotus) among others.
