In a recent interview with GOODTiMES, Tamannaah Bhatia and Madhur Bhandarkar chat about their latest film “Babli Bouncer”,how some directors like SS Rajamouli cast actors based upon the suitability of the character not because of their stardom, the challenge of making films in the current scenario and much more, in conversation with GOODTiMES’ Puja Talwar.
The story of “Babli Bouncer” follows Tamannaah Bhatia’s character Babli, a small town girl who becomes a female bouncer in a big city like Delhi. The film explores the various facets of the profession, which is usually dominated by men.
When asked what is the one thing that Tamannaah Bhatia would say to her character ‘Babli’ from her latest film “Babli Bouncer” if she could meet her in real life, the actor promptly replied to the question and said- “I would definitely say thank you to Babli because one thing that I have learnt from her is to be myself unapologetically . Sometimes I think it also takes an actor to play certain characters to realize how beautiful it is to be unapologetically ‘you’ and that self love is a thing.”
The actor further talked about a person she would like to be Babli Bouncer for and said- “There are a lot of heroes of our county, they do not need protection but just for my whim I would love to be there everywhere.”
The actor-director duo also talked about making films with a socio-cultural message, working upon female driven narratives and how the emergence of OTT platforms has benefited the industry.
