“The Industry Didn’t Give Me Enough Work”- Shamita Shetty
Actor Shamita Shetty who is gearing up for the release of her film “The Tenant” opened up about the constant scrutiny on her personal life, a lesson she learnt from her sister Shilpa Shetty Kundrra, highs and lows of her career, best birthday gift she received and much more in conversation with GOODTiMES’ Puja Talwar.
The actor who made her debut with Yash Raj Films’ ‘Mohabbatein’ opened up about her struggle to get more work after ‘Zeher’ and said, “I started with Yash Raj Films and the the life that happened to me after that rather the work that came to my way after that was not as per my expectations. Having said that, also when I debuted in ‘Mohabbatein’, I don’t think I realized how much I loved performing. I think that happened to me when I was shooting for Zeher. After that I became more greedy for work, I wanted to discover more. There was so much I learnt about myself as an actor when I worked on that film that I grew as an actor, as a person and I was wanting more and unfortunately the industry wasn’t giving me more.”
She went ahead and talked about a lesson that her elder sister Shilpa Shetty Kundra taught her early on in her career and said, “Initial years when I joined the industry, she taught me that when you become a celebrity, never explain, never complain. But sometimes when people really cross that line I do come out and say what I need to.”
The actor also talked about typecasting in the industry, her journey in Big Boss, similarities between her and her character, dealing with trolls and much more.
