There Is A Difference In Being A Public Figure & A Public Prperty: Rakul Preet Singh
Actor Rakul Preet Singh who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film ‘Chhatriwali’ talks about sex education, best gift she got from her boyfriend, importance of sex education in the country, her marriage plans, social media trolls and much more in conversation with GOODTiMES’ Puja Talwar.
While talking about social media trolls and how she tries to maintain a distance from the same, the actor said, “What we do is not who we are. What we do is our profession. I am a girl who likes to act doesn’t mean I am acting 24/7. I am a normal girl who has my friends. personal life, my parents , my family. So when something nasty is written about me, they also get affected.”
She further added, “There is a difference between being a public figure and a public property. I think once we understand that difference we will start valuing the emotions of actors as well.”
A fun fact that you need to know about Rakul Preet Singh is that she is a mathematics graduate. When she was asked if she is the person who handles numbers and finance at home to which she gave a witty reply and said, “The only place I use numbers is to count calories.”
When Rakul was asked what is that one experience that she would not like to re-experience to which she answered, “Nothing like that. Of course there would be experiences that would be tough but when you set out to carve a path that nobody from your family has done then you know that it is going to be a tough route, it is an uphill task. Now when I look back I feel those hardships only make you stronger. There is no place for someone who is not emotionally or mentally strong in the showcase business.
I don’t think that there is any such experience as these experiences only have shaped me as a person that I am today so I cherish those.”
The actor also discusses her formula of surviving in the industry, maintaining a work life balance, a thing that you would do if you were invisible and more.
‘Chhatriwali’ is a film that revolves around a sex education teacher who goes to great lengths to break social taboos around the subject. The film helmed by Tejas Vijay Deoskar will premiere on Zee 5 from January 20th.
