While the actor has impressed us with his on ground stunts, he is all set to take things up a notch by performing action sequences in outer space. Yes, you read it right!
According to the reports, the Top Gun Maverick will soon be seen doing a space walk and some out-of-the-world stunts for his next film. The chairman of Universal Studios, Donna Langley revealed – “We have a great project in development with Tom that does contemplate him taking a rocket to the Space Station. And hopefully he will become the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station. He will play a down-on-his-luck guy who finds himself in the position of being the only person who could save Earth.”
The Tom Cruise starrer film is set to be the first action motion picture to be filmed in outer space. With this the actor will become the first civilian to do a space walk outside of the International Space Station. The film is said to be shot in outer space in partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Plans for this film emerged in the year 2020 after National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Jim Bridenstine said – “NASA is very excited to work with Tom aboard the Space Station!”
After this a NASA astronaut warned Tom Cruise regarding the strong smell of the International Space Station, as well as the difficulty of performing spacewalks.
Before this Tom Cruise played the role of an astronaut in his 2013 film title’ Oblivion’ and also narrated the 2002 Imax documentary Space Station 3D.
Tom Cruise was recently seen in the super hit film Top Gun Maverick where he essayed the role of Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a test pilot and flight instructor.
