Now, let us give a disclaimer, we think both the actresses looked resplendent, and pitting women against one another is the worst form of gaslighting. However, this is fashion, and fashion begets analysis. So we have come with the ultimate fashion face-off between the wedding trousseau of Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone!
1. Priyanka Chopra’s Mehendi Outfit
It was the quintessential Mehendi outfit, colours abundant, no extra amount of jewellery, everything light and everything sublime. The atmosphere of mehendi is usually that of basking under the sun, with revelry all around. Chopra’s Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla lehenga was definitely the most endearing outfit in both the trousseau combined!
2. Deepika Padukone’s Mumbai Party Lehenga
We love this entire look so much, we sort of wish that Padukone wore this instead her bridal lehenga. This is one of the most surreal designs by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and the Frida Kahlo inspired hairdo made this a look worthy of accolades. It was edgy, it was traditional, and it suited the statuesque Padukone like a dream!
3. Priyanka Chopra’s Refurbished White Wedding Dress
The bare-back, the shimmery tassles, the slinky fit; this Ralph Lauren dress was absolutely gorgeous on Chopra. Now we aren’t too sure if this was a part of the original wedding gown or not, but in its isolated standing it bowled us over, and how!
4. Priyanka Chopra’s Delhi Reception Lehenga
Falguni and Shane Peacock knocked this out of the park. We couldn’t have guessed this look especially after the reception looks of Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone; both similar in their sarees and chokers. But Chopra’s beige and white lehenga was a brilliant outfit that incorporated a little bit of west and a little bit of us!
5. Deepika Padukone’s Mumbai Industry Reception Gown
Now, when we saw the invite say Black Tie, we knew this is finally when Padukone will let her hair loose and don something sexy! This custom-made Zuhair Murad gown with the veil was exactly what we were hoping for. It was sexy, it was beautiful, it was shiny, and it was celebratory. The fierce red suited Padukone really well. The best bit of this ensemble was it’s ability to be bellowing but structured at the very same time.
6. Priyanka Chopra’s Hindu Wedding Lehenga
Nothing says ethereal than something in monochromatic red without the overload of ostentatious embroidery. Sabyasachi Mukherjee really knows how to design something so exquisite that we can’t stop looking at the ensembles. Chopra donned something so traditional yet so simple with much aplomb, and we loved every bit of it!
7. Deepika Padukone’s Konkani Wedding Saree
Two of Padukone’s saree in her trousseau were handpicked by her mother from the Bangalore store Angadi Galleria; and both were rich in fabric, royal in colours. The jewellery complemented the colour of her saree and she looked like the quintessential bride in her traditional adornment.
8. Deepika Padukone’s Mehendi Outfit
Now we aren’t big fans of a lot of jewellery for day events anyway, but it’s hard to resist the blushing Padukone is this blush pink hue. She looked so happy, and the Sabyasachi Mukherjee outfit brought out an innocence that was guarded and sophisticated. This look, juxtaposed with the backdrop of the Lake Como, was feminine and elegant!
9. Priyanka Chopra’s Sangeet Saree
Our only real problem with this? We wish Chopra had worn an anarkali or a lehenga, because who doesn’t love some twirl while dancing the night away?! However, if anyone can really carry off a saree is our very own desi girl!
10. Priyanka Chopra’s White Wedding Gown
Ralph Lauren has played matchmaker to Chopra’s love story and his dedication shines through this wedding dress. Lauren rarely designs wedding dresses, and from the looks of Chopra’s gown we wish he would make more. The elegant lace, the modern silhouette, and that veil. The veil deserves it’s own article, if you ask us! What a dream outfit to be in!
11. Deepika Padukone’s Sindhi Wedding Lehenga
Padukone’s Sabyasachi Mukherjee lehenga was beautiful, and evoked traditional elements! The lehenga was blood red with golden embroidery that was so spectacular that we recommend you see this video to really know what we are talking about here.
12. Deepika Padukone’s Mumbai Media Reception Saree
Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla gave Padukone a look like we had not expected. It was minimal but it was extraordinary. The make-up and the baubles were tepid, but the outfit itself spoke volumes. Plus who doesn’t love something that you can coordinate with your boo?!
13. Priyanka Chopra’s Mumbai Reception Lehenga-Choli
14. Deepika Padukone’s Bangalore Reception Saree
This saree, also by Angadi Galleria, was beautiful in theory but with the overload of the jewellery it looked a little blase. Not that we feel Padukone didn’t look like a million bucks, but we wish she would have just this once been a risk-taker!
