1. Hydrate Yourself
Drink two glasses of water along with lemon first thing in the morning. This boosts the entire digestive system.
2. Exercising is Important
Make exercise a daily morning routine. 45-60 minutes of work out time is sufficient.
3. Yoga and Meditation
Mind-body practices like yoga and meditation elicit a relaxation response in the body. This helps to alleviate stress which is the major reason for weight gain. It also puts us to better state of mind and make us better decision-makers.
In yoga, Kapalbhati pranayama is a highly recommended breathing exercise to reduce fat (lose weight) and blood sugar. It is one of the favourite asana of ‘yoga people’ to lose weight naturally, and controlling obesity.
4. Managing Hunger Pangs
Eat three meals a day and prevent snacking. Make sure to eat with the season. In summers, have seasonal fruits and in winters root vegetables, stored nuts and stored grains. This practice improves the body’s digestion as well as the assimilation of nutrients.
Be sure to incorporate all the six tastes as per Ayurveda – Sweet, Sour, Salt, Bitter, Pungent and Astringent. Too much of sweet, sour and salty tastes can cause fast weight gain. Foods that are bitter like green leafy vegetables, pungent like chilli and pepper and astringent like pomegranate seeds help to balance the sweet sour and salty tastes.

- Samskrithamadhu (wild purified honey) helps in weight management. Having one spoon of honey daily in the morning on an empty stomach will help you reduce weight.
- Maintaining a natural circadian rhythm is important for natural hormonal balance by maintaining healthy levels of cortisol. Hence go to bed with the sun and rise with the sun.
