Shyamal and Bhumika’s India Couture Week Collection for the season is inspired by the iconic period of renaissance. The velvet lehengas with a contrasting coloured top with traditional embroidery techniques used unique materials.
We saw a combination of elaborate beading, silk thread embroidery and floral motifs in gold zardosi thread. The dhoti – kurtas in pastel colours and the embellishments are inspired by inlay samples in museums, vintage European paintings architectural details and florals.
Their signature cowl dresses are versatile and fun. The menswear was understated hand woven tussars, matkas and moonga variety of silks making it unconventionally elegant. My favourite, however, was an asymmetrical kurta!
