5 BIZARRE Indian NON-VEG Food DELICACIES That will Surprise You

India is a land of many cultures, traditions, and a variety of food delicacies. From North to South, and East to West, Indian cuisine includes food items that you wouldn’t find anywhere in the world. Having said that, Indian cuisine is not only dal, roti and sabzi. In fact, there are a lot of food items that fall under the ‘Bizarre’ category and are consumed in different parts of the country (Well, we don’t recommend you to try them!). Here is a list of the most bizarre Non-Vegetarian that have their origin in India. Take a look:

Red Ant Chutney, Chhattisgarh

The Red Ant Chutney also called Chapdah is made with the red ants and their eggs. The paste is a sought-after delicacy, particularly in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region. This chutney is very spicy. The ants’ high levels of formic acid, coupled with the added seasonings, make this chutney extremely hot and is to keep diseases at bay. 

Frog Legs, Sikkim

There’s no dish as exotic as frog legs for people of Sikkim. The dish is prepared by the Lepcha community of Sikkim and it is believed that frog legs have medicinal value that cures various stomach-related diseases.

Shark Curry, Goa

Goa is famous for its seafood. Shark curry is a very expensive dish compared to other seafood. Is a star dish of Goa which is prepared using different sauces. The bizarre thing is that this delicacy is prepared using baby sharks.

Eri Polu SilkWorm, Assam

This is a famous dish in Assam. Eri Polu is a dish made with silkworm pupa which is cooked with herbs and spices. Most important thing is that this delicacy is served with bamboo shoots.

Fried Snails, Odisha

Fried snails is an exotic dish cooked by the tribal people in Odisha. This dish is said to be highly nutritious by the people of Odisha. Some people even opt to boiled snails instead of fried ones.
