We Know When The World Had It’s First Burger!

We all love the sinfully good burger patties topped with gooey, melted cheese and filled with vegetables. Cheese burgers started to become popular during the late 1920’s to mid-1930’s in the area of California, USA. But did you know that the first cheeseburger was actually the brainchild of a 16-year old boy named Lionel Sternberger?

Just like the case is with several famous dishes, the claims to have invented the cheeseburger are several. One claim that stands taller among the rest is that of Lionel, a regular 16-year-old guy working at his father’s sandwich shop called “Rite Spot” in Pasadena, California. Lionel slapped a slice of American cheese onto a hamburger which was sizzling on the grill at the shop, and his father actually turned out to love it! The dish was added to Rite Spot’s menu and the world’s burgers have never looked back since that day. And that’s how cheese burger was brought into this world- and onto our taste buds.
