Learn How To Make The Tastiest Japanese Pork Tonkatsu!

Tonkatsu is a Japanese food that consists of a breaded, deep-fried pork cutlet and is actually one of the quickest and simplest meals you can make at home.

Sticky Rice – 330gm

White Cabbage (Thinly Shredded) – whole

Sesame Seeds (Crushed) – 1 tbsp

Pork Steaks/Loin (Bashed Flat) – 4 (0.5kg in total)

Salt – a pinch

Pepper – a pinch

Flour – as required

Eggs (Whipped) – 2

Panko Breadcrumbs – as required

Sesame Oil – 2tbsp

Lemon Juice – as per taste

Tonkatsu Sauce – 2tbsp

Miso Soup (Optional) – 1 cup per person


1. Cook 330g sticky rice

2. Thinly shred whole white cabbage

3. Crush sesame seeds (1 tbsp)

4. Take 4 pork steaks or loin (0.5 kg in total) and bash flat

5. Season with pinch salt and pepper

6. Coat in flour

7. Dip in 2 eggs whipped up

8. Coat in panko breadcrumbs until covered

9. Deep fry until golden

10. Rest for 5 mins on rack

11. Slice pork into 1/2 inch slices

12. Plate with rice portion and cabbage

13. Serve with sesame oil and lemon juice on cabbage, sprinkle sesame powder, dip in Tonkatsu sauce

14. Miso soup on the side if you like
