Sriya Lenka On BLACKSWAN’s Tour Of India And Comeback
It’s been an exciting year for Sriya Lenka, India’s first K Pop artist, part of the multinational K Pop girl band BLACKSWAN.
“2022 has been an amazing year for me, it gave me a title of India’s first K Pop artist, it made me a part of BLACKSWAN, it had its fair share of struggles, some hard moments as well but it had been a happy year for me”, says Sriya.
BLACKSWAN which along with Sirya consists of Fatou,Gabi, and new member Nvee will have their first concert in India on Jan 11 at the 2023 Men’s FIH Hockey World in Odisha. Visiting her home state along with her band members has Sriya excited and proud.
“My team mates are so excited and have asked me to treat them to every meal every day and so much so they keep telling me we will happy to live in India”, said Sriya on Anneyong Station an initiative by InKoCentre.
From Odisha To Seoul the 19 year old Sriya is living the dream of many hopefuls. Though she admits she was initially curious and a bit nervous about being accepted in S Korea but says the rousing welcome has been overwhelming.
“I was initially worried will I be accepted because of my skin tone and also I look different but its been super. Especially the grandmothers on the street they often stop me to compliment by skin tone and looks. S Korea has been so accepting and welcoming”.
BLACKSWAN also represents members from across the world and Sriya says her group stands for inclusivity and how music has no borders.
“I want to see diversity in K Pop its getting bigger and bigger and I feel one day K Pop will be very very diverse am waiting to see that”.
As BLACKSWAN gears up for its much awaited comeback, Sriya says it’s a surprise and will be very unique”.
