India Art Fair is back with its 12th edition, bringing artists, curators and galleries from across South Asia, and beyond. Basically, it’s a weekend full of everything art, as over 80 exhibitors are showcasing some of their best works in the Capital city. And that’s not all. Visitors can witness live performances, bite into scrumptious delicacies and go on a book-shopping spree – at this one location, that needs to be your weekend destination. And while you’re at it, here’s a list of things you cannot miss doing at India Art Fair 2020.
Begin With The One On Gender, Equality & Choice
From covering the history of courtesans, to touch and feel installations, and a closet, that yearns to be opened, by abstracting the contention that gender as a discourse is. The treatment of women, the fears ingrained upon being born as one, and ‘condemned’ choices – all of this is grouped together in different temporal displays over the four days of the fair. Start your journey with the provocative, yet calming works of over 35 prolific international artists from Italy, India, Iran and America at the Italian Embassy Art Project.
Ogle At The BMW Art Car
Because how can you not? Located only a few steps from the Italian Embassy Art Project, is Andy Warhol’s Art Car – an original masterpiece, also referred to as the Rolling Sculpture – a much-loved representation of artistic expression that goes into automobile design. BMW’s #ArtThatMoves is proof that segregation of tech and art exists only as far as the mind is made to believe.
Check Out Exhibitions By Leading Cultural Organisations & Foundations
Where else will you find a Swaraj Art Archive showcasing the early 20th century artworks from India, along presentations by Kiran Nadar Museum Of Art, Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art, and Korean Cultural Centre India – under a single roof, this weekend? You’d be happy to learn that the Kolkata Centre for Creativity, Chennai Photo Biennale and the Embassy Of Brazil are making their debut in this edition of India Art Fair.

These aesthetically pleasing works of art represent the ‘primitive bond between man and nature. ‘I am present in nature and nature is present in me’, says the artist, whose creation often alternates between botanical and zoological forms.

The event will have a bunch of interesting workshops and outdoor sessions where you can learn new things and curate your very own DIY-projects.
