Gujarat College Makes Students Take Off Their Underwear To Prove They Aren’t Menstruating

So basically, in an alternate reality, that feeds off of misogyny, patriarchy, parochialism, and ultimately just disgusting sexist approaches a woman who menstruates is largely regarded as impure. However, it seems as though the purveyors of this alternate reality are much more socially visible than we would like them to be. A college in Bhuj, Gujarat, just basically proved this concept true. According to an investigative report by Ahmedabad Mirror, a hostel warden complained that girls on their period had entered kitchen, ventured near temple and touched fellow hostellers. So then the college principal did the obvious thing, that any one with any modicum of sexist tendencies would do, they forced the hostellers to parade through the college into the washroom.

According to this comprehensive report, the college that has modelled itself on the premise of “self-development and empowerment of girls through modern, scientific, and value- based education. Well, these words surely came ringing true the moment girls were made to strip and remove their underwears to prove they weren’t in fact menstruating.

Many girls have come ahead with their testimonies that speak of the absolute horror the girls were put through,

On Thursday, when we were attending lectures, rector Anjaliben called the principal and complained about this. We were forced to leave our classrooms and queue up outside in the passage. The principal abused and insulted us, asking which of us were having our periods. Two of us who were menstruating stepped aside.

Another girl added, “that the principal, hostel rector and the trustees harass us regularly over the issue of menstruation. We are punished for having periods. This happens even if we follow their religious rules. They made us remove our undergarments because they thought some of us were lying about not having periods, and mingling with the others against rules.”

Not only is this absolutely disgusting, it is unequivocally against human rights. Menstruation is an absolutely normal and biologically normal thing that women undergo, and it is something that is a cornerstone in establishing life cycles, it is nothing impure, if anything it is much more pure as it is proof of a woman’s ability to bring new life into the world. So women shouldn’t be made to feel anything other than special for going through something discomforting, month after month, when they don’t have a choice. The last thing they need is stigma attached to it.

So, always remember – whatever a man can do, a woman can do the same while bleeding!

So medieval thinking. Why do they follow him first. It’s a good move , better ask him let the males cook as long as females are in reproductive age group. Let the males who masturbate don’t cook and come and give pravachan. They will become ox in their next life
