Dia Mirza is an actress who associates herself with so many causes. The versatile lady, who is also the UN Environment’s Goodwill Ambassador, has been actively campaigning against the use of plastic. She has now taken to the publishing industry’s forefront to launch Om Books International’s Latest anthology of poems titled “The Sound of Silence” by Akanksha G Mittal.
The book’s author has her husband to thank for being the inspiration behind the book. She proudly proclaimed being a nature lover, being born and brought up in the hills. She found an expression in poetry for the feelings inside of her, which gave birth to this anthology of 63 poems. Akanksha feels it is important to write your heart out and believe in yourself for everything that you write. Akanksha G Mittal herself is a debutante in the publishing space, and she hopes to bring another sequel to “The Sound of Silence” really soon!
Speaking with Dia, who was also the chief guest of the event, her concern for environmental causes outshone everything that she said. Dia said she would love to write a book on the unsung heroes on environment conservation, given the change to publish her own book. She believes the debuting authors of today, like Akanksha, are extremely self-aware and they don’t need any external help from anyone. When asked about the status of environment conservation and the use of technology today, Dia feels that it is an exciting space to be in today with lots of awareness developing through the internet and mediums like photography, poetry, and even audio visual storytelling!
The book launch event also covered various facets of the book itself, with Dia and Akanksha both reading out sections from the book. The launch was also attended by well-known Indian photographer Raghu Rai. Copies of the book were signed exclusively by the debutante author, and yes, we got one too!
