Menstruating Women Who Cook Will Be Reborn As Dogs, Says Spiritual Leader

It’s crazy that we are still talking about the stigma attached to menstruation. While we are all responsible for our own beliefs, people like Krushnaswarup Dasji might be the one to blame, for they are unconsciously replacing ideals in other people’s heads.

Krushnaswarup Dasji enjoys the respect of a spiritual leader for the Swaminarayan Bhuj Mandir sect. It’s his followers who run the Bhuj hostel, the one that recently made headlines for its regressive attitudes.

A hostel warden complained that girls on their period had entered kitchen, ventured near temple and touched fellow hostellers. The college principal then forced the hostellers to parade through the college into the washroom. The girls were made to strip and remove their underwears to prove they weren’t in fact menstruating. Not only is this absolutely disgusting, it is unequivocally against human rights.

Now, videos of the leader’s preachings have made it to the internet.

“If you eat food prepared by a menstruating woman even once then your next avatar will definitely be that of an ox,” the guru can be heard saying at one gathering. “A menstruating woman who cooks food for her husband will certainly be reborn as a dog,” he furthers.

Justifying his remarks, he asserts that these directives come from the “Shastras”. In the video, he can also be heard telling men to learn how to so that menstruating women do not break their “dharma”.
