Everyone knew when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his Twitter venture of naming Indian Sheroes that there would be someone special from the Armed Forces, as the one thing that India is consistently surging ahead in is women representation in the military.
After Captain Tania Shergill, this year has brought to us the first operational paratrooper of the Indian Army – Captain Ruchi Sharma.
This is also an absolutely welcomed step after the landmark judgment the Supreme Court presented in favour of women commanders, so kudos to these women who fight and protect our country without putting in mind societal judgments and normative ideas!
Sky is not the limit
Capt Ruchi Sharma, first operational paratrooper of the #IndianArmy. She still motivates women of all ages to serve the country. #WomensDay #IWD2020 #EachforEqual #SheInspiresUs pic.twitter.com/PJYVOo9FNP
