The apocalypse is here. Well, considering this is the first pandemic in the age of exuberant social media, there are talks of 2020 being that Armageddon we were always warned of ever since anyone read any Holy scripture or any conspiracy book. As the world grapples with the outbreak of Coronavirus, with Italy going into complete lockdown, and China and Iran dealing with the aftermath of being affected deeply – things took a turn for worse as World Health Organization classified the disease as ‘prevalent over a whole country or the world’. Subsequently, India cancelled all foreign visas and sealed off foreigners from visiting the country, and following suit Donald Trump has banned all travel from Europe, barring United Kingdom.
Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, wife of Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, has tested positive for coronavirus, a statement from the prime minister’s office says. On the other hand, Arsenal have gone into isolation after manager Mikel Arteta was diagnosed with coronavirus late on Thursday night, closing their London Colney and Hale End training centres and entering into emergency discussions with the football authorities about the fulfilment of their forthcoming fixtures.
Following Gov. Gavin Newsom and health officials’ recommendation that gatherings of 250 or more people be canceled across the state, Walt Disney Co. said in a statement “While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Disneyland Resort, after carefully reviewing the guidelines of the governor of California’s executive order and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month,” Thursday afternoon.
India on Thursday reported its first coronavirus death as authorities ordered schools, theatres and cinemas closed in New Delhi for the rest of the month.

Last Saturday, US president Donald Trump met with a top Brazilian official at Mar-a-Lago who was since tested positive for Coronavirus. “He should be” self-quarantined says Tara Smith, an expert on infectious diseases at Kent State University. That’s because the president may actually have been exposed to the virus.
However, for the millennial who was shrugging off the UK Prime Minister’s infection, and the death of an Italian medical chief – took notice of how severe the situation is when Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson were tested positive for the coronavirus while in Australia.

As of right now, the world waits for the situation to better itself, and social distancing is the only way to move forward with containing the contamination (after all #canceleverything is trending on Twitter); however its important to not let mass hysteria take over, and look out for the small lifestyle changes one can incorporate in their daily routine to minimize their exposure to this disease. So, avoid mass gatherings, minimize travel, stay at home if you feel unwell, and wash your hands with soap consistently.
