Are you the one tossing and turning all night waiting for sleep charming to arrive? We understand your struggle and pain very well, and hats off to you for being patient every single night. However you don’t have to do it anymore as we present all the simple ways to fall into the sweet slumber really fast. Additionally, you don’t have to leave the bed, so pick your sleep weapon.
1. Force yourself to stay awake
As crazy as it sounds, actively trying not to sleep actually helps you sleep better. After all, is there anything reverse psychology isn’t good for?
2. Tell yourself a story
Remember the time when your mom and dad told you stories to put you to sleep. Well, stories work on adults too. Pick up a novel you really like – romance or mystery or sci-fi as long as its fiction. Don’t go for a non-fiction one as it puts your mind into a problem-solving mode.
3. Put on some relaxing music
Most of us have nodded off to a relaxing tune before, so why not purposefully listen to it to reach dreamland faster. Music significantly improves the quality of sleep and is even used to improve chronic sleep disorders like insomnia.
4. Turn off all electronics
Using your phone, tablet or laptop in bed before sleeping is a terrible idea. Disconnect yourself and your bed from all electronics if you want a good night’s sleep.
5. Adjust your side and position
Good quality sleep depends a lot on your body position during the night. Find your most comfortable position, be it on your back, stomach or side and stick to it every night. Further you should always stick to your daily side of the bed to ensure a good sleep.
6. Scent your room with lavender
Not only does lavender smell lovely, but the aroma of this flowering herb also helps you to sleep. It relaxes your nerves, lowers your blood pressure thus increasing your amount of deep sleep and letting you feel more vigorous in the morning.
If you feel like doing none of the above go down on yourself. There’s no other more satisfying way to pass the time and the released endorphins keep all the toss-and-turn kind of nights at bay.
