I close my eyes, it is summer of 2008 and I’m in the back seat of my Maruti 800, sipping an orange drink as we drive to my favourite aunt’s place. Yes, a road trip! Turning into adults, summer vacations are undoubtedly the part we have grown to miss the most. The only worry in the world was completing vacation homework on time and well, that’s saying something!
Even though its impossible to turn back time, we sure can recreate memories by going on road trips with family and friends. Here’s a list of essentials that you need to make your road trip extremely memorable and super fun.
1. A good playlist
The single most important thing that will make your break your trip – Good Music. Make a playlist of your and turn up the volume as you sing along to your favourite songs as loudly as you can. And the best part is, you don’t even have to worry about being in melody!
2. Reusable water bottles to keep you hydrated
Remember, you can never have enough water with you, especially when you’ve hit the road despite the soaring temperatures. Its always safe to carry multiple reusable bottles of water & juices, so you can refill them at the next stop.
3. Comfy neck pillow
Carry a neck pillow and get comfy in the backseat. Better yet, doze off. The best part of going on a road trip is you get your own private, little space to just relax without caring about nosy co-passengers.
4. (Un)healthy snacks
What are road trips without munching on delish-snacks? Buy some nuts, chocolates and chips, because you’re allowed to eat unhealthy once in a while! Also because packaged food doesn’t get spoilt. However, make sure you don’t litter the place by throwing the packets out of the window.
5. Ice box & chill
Water and juices are best served chilled. So what if it’s inside a four wheeler? Travel in style by taking an Ice Box along. In case you have decided to carry homemade food on your road trip, carrying an Ice Box is all the more important to keep your snacks from getting spoilt.
6. Wet Wipes Are A Saviour
Being on the road for hours at a stretch can make one feel tired and lethargic, especially if you’re the one driving. Dab wet wipes onto your face to start feeling fresh instantly. Plus, the fragrance is to die for! However, we want to remind you to not over-use them. The Earth needs you to be vigilant of your consumption, remember?
7. Moisturizer is a must
Staying in the AC for a long period is bound to take a toll on your skin and make it dry. Carry a moisturizer and keep re-applying it every few hours to keep your skin as happy as you are on the trip!
8. Don’t forget your camera
The one thing that comes with driving through towns and cities is picturesque landscapes. Have a camera handy to create memories and capture some breath taking frames.
9. First-aid box
There’s no harm in being prepared for an emergency at all times. Making a first aid kit with basic medicines can be done easily. Remember to pack antacids, some sterilized cotton and bandages. Perhaps you will be able to help someone else, if not yourself.
