Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks Into Tears After Seeing An Old Video Of His Late Father

Football player Cristiano Ronaldo broke into tears during a television interview with Piers Morgan. This came after Ronaldo was being shown a never-seen-before footage of his late father Jose Dinis Aveiro talking of the pride he felt for his son.

Cristiano Ronaldo was just 20 when his father died of liver failure at the age of 52 after battling alcoholism. And the Portugal and Juventus superstar couldn’t suppress his emotion as he explained how his dad didn’t live to see his historic achievements in the game. Ronaldo said in tears, “I never saw the video. I never saw that video. Unbelievable”. He further said, “I think the interview would be funny, but I didn’t expect to cry. But I never saw these images. I don’t know where you… I have to have these images to show my family. But I really don’t know my father 100 per cent. He was a drunk person. I never spoke with him, like a normal conversation. It was hard”. Ronaldo had only been at Manchester United for a couple of months when his father passed away and hence missed many of the biggest moments of his career, including five Champion League titles, five Ballon d’Or, and leading his country to Euro 2016 and also the Nations League trophy.

Ronaldo further emphasized on what had upset him the most as he said, “To be the number one and he doesn’t see anything. He doesn’t see me receive awards”. Morgan then adds, “He never saw how great you became”, to which the footballer said, “Never, My family see, my mum, my brothers, even my old son, but my father, he didn’t see nothing, and it was… he died young”.

At last, Ronaldo also revealed he plans to marry his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez one day, but not just yet. He said, “We’ll be one day, for sure. It’s my mum’s dream as well. So, one day. Why not?”
