Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy, the very place that trains young cricketers that have the potential to represent the Indian cricket team in the future. The ex Indian skipper was supposed to take over the duties as the head from July 1 but his commitments to India Cements caused the delay. Dravid was asked by the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to either relinquish his post as vice-president of the cement manufacturing company or been on leave until her completes his tenure and the legendary player went for the latter.

It’s only after Dravid’s appointment that NCA wil,l for the first time, interview at least five candidates to select the best possible individual for the post of Head of Education. While it’s a concept not new to the world, it’s happening for the first time in the academy’s close to two-decade long history. Dravid will over all cricket related activities at NCA and will coach, train, mentor and motivate players, coaches and staff at the academy. The BCCI hasn’t specified Dravid’s tenure yet, though he is expected to stick around considering his determination, grit and patience.
