Samsung Unveils The Incredible Galaxy Fold And We’re Now Sure That We’re Living In The Future

We’ve all been wondering what the next innovative smartphone idea will be and it looks like one of the biggest device manufacturers, Samsung, is finally taking that much needed leap. Since the debut of various folding phone prototypes a few years back, the industry has been demanding the commercial debut of the first functional foldable smartphone and in 2019, we got our first look at what the future might hold. Dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the latest device from the South Korean tech giant truly does look like it’s been beamed to us straight from the future.

Although, when folded, the screen is a bezel covered nightmare, once the entire thing opens up, it truly does look amazing. We’ve all been craving for the next technological leap in smartphone tech and with Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, it looks like we’re getting there sooner rather than later. Look, the phone might not set the world on fire, we have to temper our expectations of what this tech can do, but as far as the future is concerned, this is an excellent move by Samsung. By getting to the larger market first, they’ve laid the groundwork for other tech giants like Apple and Google to follow their steps and in a few years we’ll actually start seeing folding phones with an upgraded form factor.

Not that the Fold looks bad, far from it, in fact, it looks sleek, smooth and does not seem to be the laggy mess that previous models of the folding smartphone have been. Built using Samsung’s Flex display, the phone goes from a 4.6 inch screen to a 7.3 inch tablet display. The 7.3-inch tablet display has a resolution of 2152 x 1536 pixels, while the smaller 4.6-inch phone display has a resolution of 1960 x 840 pixels. Talk about being able to truly transform from one device to another, the Galaxy Fold seems to check all the necessary boxes.

It truly remains to be seen, but as of now, the Galaxy Fold looks like it is going to be a part of the newest line up of Samsung’s next generation of smartphones. Although, as of now, the phone costs a whopping $ 1,980. Check out the official reveal video below.
