Because smartphone technology has been pushing the envelope when it comes to design and function, the kind of handsets we’re getting now are truly surfing the bleeding edge of tech. Last year was the year of the notch, as a bevy of smartphones followed Apple’s footsteps and enclosed their front cameras in a variety of notch-like shapes. And the trend this year is clearly the cut-out or punch-hole camera. We’re already seen the prototypes out in the market but Huawei is taking things one step further with the Honor View 20 which is set to release today.
The View 20 comes packed with excellent features such as a 48 megapixel camera bundled with a Sony IM586 sensor for good measure. Instead of front facing speakers, Honor has stuffed a single earpiece into the little sliver of a bezel. It really is a technological marvel to behold. Because it has already been launched in China, we have a fair idea of exactly what the phone will cost here. Priced at about INR 30,000 for the for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option and at INR 35,000 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage option, both variants of the View 20 should be relatively affordable when compared to the exorbitantly priced flagship smartphones. The phone will be powered by a 7nm HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC and come with a whole host of cool features as well. Namely, Nanolithography technology that is used to give the View 20 its unique chevron look.
The Honor View 20 is set to be launched today at a reveal in Paris and you can watch the live event right here! The live show will being at 9:30 PM Indian Standard Time.
