If Vishwanathan Anand is the Chess Grandmaster, MS Dhoni is the Grandmaster of the greens! Both have conquered their respective fields and stood at the top of their games during their prime days. And now the chess wizard has words of praises for the cricketer, reflecting the true stature of the former Indian skipper.
Vishwanathan Anand while heaping praises on MS Dhoni said it’s totally the cricketer’s liberty to take a call on his retirement and that the former captain had nothing left to achieve in his career. India’s semi-final exit at the ICC World Cup earlier this year had led to widespread speculations about Dhoni’s retirement, but he himself had preferred to stay quiet and took a break from cricket to serve his regiment in Territorial Army.
The five-time world chess champion Vishwanathan Anand was quoted telling a publication, “He knows what’s the right decision for him. But I think nothing is left behind or on the table for him. He has a phenomenal fan following. He had achieved everything which he had set out to achieve. He has won India two World Cups as captain. He has been a great captain. No one can decide (when to quit) better than him”.
Dhoni, who is in the middle of a two-month sabbatical which will end later this month, has also not been included for the T20 series against South Africa starting September 15.
