In the biggest spike in the number of deceased in India since the beginning of the novel coronavirus pandemic, 73 people have died in the country in the last 24 hours, as the cases rise well above 30,000. The total reported deaths now stand at 1,007.
These figures come in days before the lockdown extension comes to an end, as the country is divided into Orange, Green, and Red zones. A lot of relaxation has been witnessed across India in an attempt to revitalise and open the economy.
However in the past two days, a staff member of the Supreme Court, and of Niti Aayog have come across as positive cases, surging the need for contact tracing even more.
A CRPF battalion in Delhi also reported 47 cases of the novel coronavirus, including a jawan who passed away yesterday. 1000 people in the battalion have now been quarantined.
