Covid-19: Cases In India Cross 1000 Mark, 27 Dead

The novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, pandemic has spread across 190 countries. Today is the fifth day of the 21-day nationwide lockdown announced by PM Narendra Modi.

The total number of novel coronavirus cases in India has risen to over 1,000, according to the Union Health Ministry.

This number includes reported active cases, patients who have recovered and the total deaths so far.

“Death toll due to COVID-19 rises to 27; positive cases increase to 1024,” the Health Ministry said.

“I apologize for taking these harsh steps which have caused difficulties in your lives, especially the poor people. I know some of you would be angry with me also. But these tough measures were needed to win this battle,” Prime Minister  Narendra Modi said today in his monthly radio address ‘Mann Ki Baat’.
