With The Highest Spike In One Day India’s Covid Cases Almost At 6500, PM Modi Likely To Address Nation

India has reported an unprecedented spike in COVI 19 positive cases – with 781 new cases reported. The state leading with these cases is Maharashtra with 229 fresh cases; Tamil Nadu recorded 96 cases, Rajasthan 80, Gujarat 76, and Delhi 51. The deaths recorded were 31, including the first of a medical professional from Madhya Pradesh.

The state of Bihar, on the other hand, saw a sudden surge in cases – all coming from within the same family. A man who had earlier tested positive after a travel history to Oman, is possibly the spreader taking the positive cases toll in Siwan to 60.

The sudden spike is a cause for concern for the government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is likely to address the nation about an extension of the national lockdown.

At present India’s novel coronavirus tally stands at:

Cases: 6,412

Deaths: 199

Recovered: 504
