COVID 19: The Met Gala 2020 Has Been Indefinitely Postponed

Culture lovers, coronavirus has finally lodged its mayhem and devastation onto one of the most coveted events of the year. The Met Gala.

In a long editorial, editrix Anna Wintour, the artistic director of Conde Nast, who basically runs the ball  ever since the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum was renamed to the Anna Wintour Costume Centre, has spoken of the same.

Due to the unavoidable and responsible decision by the Metropolitan Museum to close its doors, About Time, and the opening night gala, will not take place on the date scheduled. In the meantime, we will give you a preview of this extraordinary exhibition in our forthcoming May issue.

This is perhaps an unprecedented move, one perhaps that was however expected ever since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strongly recommended that no gatherings of 50 people or more should take place in the next eight weeks to avoid spreading the coronavirus.

All eyes are now on the other two big events of Summer 2020: Cannes Film Festival and Tokyo Olympics.
