Dispelling rumours of an extended or staggered lockdown, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi urged the citizens of the country to show unity and solidarity amid the lockdown. On April 5, PM Modi, who lauded the efforts and the discipline of Indian citizens thus far, suggested that all of the country together shuts off all their lights, and using Diyas, candles, mobile flashlights, torches – to exhibit a United front in the eye of a the health pandemic, novel coronavirus.
He further said that no one should assemble together anywhere, and this exercise must be done in complete isolation where everyone stands by their gates, doors, or on their balconies and terraces.

The Prime Minister also hopes that the citizens come together for this just like they did for Janata Curfew on March 22, 2020.
