So Cool! Facebook Now Lets You Make Instagram Filters For Yourself

Facebook’s tool for building augmented reality effects, Spark AR, now open for public and allows anyone to make custom face filters and other effects for Instagram Stories.

Facebook revealed this change at its annual developer conference in late April 2019. “At this year’s F8, we announced our plans to move out of Spark AR’s closed beta on Instagram and give the entire community of Spark AR creators the power to publish their effects on Instagram. And now, we’re excited to officially kickoff Spark AR’s public beta on Instagram!” read the Facebook website.

Starting today, anyone can create and publish their own Spark AR effects on Instagram. “We’re also introducing the new Effect Gallery, which includes niche AR effects from up-and-coming artists, making it easier for people to discover unique effects from the creator community. To discover and try on new effects yourself, simply “Browse Effects” at the end of your effects tray in the Instagram Camera,” it further revealed.

Before this policy shift, only only allow approved creators could submit their face filters to Instagram.

Those who want to create face filters can do so by downloading the Spark AR Studio for Windows and macOS.
