Pulav, Idli, Halwa In Space: A Look Inside The Menu For Gaganyaan Astronauts

India’s first manned spaceflight Gaganyaan is scheduled to be launched in December 2021. For the purpose of helping the astronauts drink water and juices in zero gravity, special containers for the mission have already been provided!

Now, the Mysuru-based Food Research Laboratory has prepared a menu that has dishes from egg rolls, idli, and sambhar to moong dal halwa and vegetable pulav. The astronauts will also be provided with food heaters.

K Sivan, ISRO chairperson told on 1st January, “We have made good progress on the Gaganyaan mission this year. Many of the designs have been completed. The selection process for the astronauts is over, now the training for the four astronauts identified is planned for the third week of January this year”.
