Twitter revealed the top Tweets, most-discussed hashtag topics and most-discussed accounts in India 2019. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tweet celebrating the Bharatiya Janata Party’s victory in 2019 Lok Sabha polls came out as the winner with the most number of retweets and likes.

The ‘Golden Tweet’, as Twitter calls it, was posted by the Prime Minister on May 23, 2019 and it said, “सबका साथ + सबका विकास + सबका विश्वास = विजयी भारत. Together we grow. Together we prosper. Together we will build a strong and inclusive India. India wins yet again! #VijayiBharat”. Among hashtag topics, #loksabhaelections2019 was the most tweeted in India.

In the realm of sports, Virat Kohli wished MS Dhoni on his birthday with a picture of the duo, which became the most retweeted tweet amongst athletes. In the entertainment world, the Tamil film industry continued to rule hearts and Twitter as actor Vijay’s tweet sharing the poster of his film #Bigil got the most number of retweets in the entertainment sector. It also became the tweet to achieve the most retweets with comments overall. In Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan earned the honour of the most tweeted handle in entertainment.

Coming to emojis, the face with tears of joy earned the top rank of being used the most followed by the prayer/high five/thank you emoji and the fire emoji.

Further, in 2019, the buzz around launch of Chandrayaan 2 was one of the most exciting and momentous events for India. Twitter said in its blog post on Golden Tweet 2019, “One of the most exciting and momentous events for India this year was ISRO’s #chandrayaan2 mission. The event represented a technological leap and highlighted India’s contribution to space exploration, as the world took to Twitter to respond to every development. Not before long, #chandrayaan2 had developed into a phenomenon of sorts, and NASA as well as people on Twitter applauded ISRO’s work with this iconic Tweet”.
