North Korean State Media States Kim Jong-un Is Alive, Releases Pictures

April was riddled with rumours about North Korea’s Supreme Leader, Kim Jong-un being hospitalised and subsequently being in coma or brain dead after he was conspicuously missing from the public eye. Japanese media and other media alike ran stories of the same, while South Korean media specifically refuted these rumours saying that he was in fact recuperating after a surgery at a remote location.

Now as per the North Korean state media, Kim Jong-un has appeared in public for the first time in 20 days. As per Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) news agency, the North Korean leader cut the ribbon at the opening of a fertiliser factory. State media later released images that it said showed Mr Kim cutting a ribbon outside a factory

KCNA also said that Mr Kim was accompanied by several senior North Korean officials, including his sister Kim Yo Jong.
