Mumbai Local Trains Resume Services For Essential Service Workers

Maharashtra government, on Monday morning, announced the resumption of local train services for ferrying ‘essential services’ staff, for the first time since March 23. These “special suburban services” will not be for the public, a joint press release from Western and Central Railways said, and will only be meant for ‘essential workers’, these workers will be picked by the state government for the state and western railway. The Maharashtra government has identified around 1.25 lakh essential staff.

Since the state government has not made any bulk payment for extra safety precautions yet, the same rules that apply to general masses will apply here, all workers will need to buy tickets, they will not be allowed to be in close contact with each other and will only be allowed with their government ID’s along with a no parking zone 150 meters near the station.
