Go To Jaipur, But Not For The Forts

Jaipur is a city of unbridled aesthetic and art. It is a culmination of archaeological marvel and modern city planning. We agree that Jaipur is all about forts and palaces, but beyond the royal regalia of the pink city, lies a city built on quiet minimalism, on stunning architecture, on nooks that are poetic.

We tell you places to go in Jaipur that will not only up your social media game but also have you immerse in cultural Pangaea.

Anokhi Cafe

#Travel :: Life in Jaipur, it seems like is experienced through a set of rose tinted glasses. Modern yet deep-seated in tradition, Rajasthan’s capital offers more gems than one can count but if we had to pick a favourite, it would be Cafe Anokhi. A meal here on a work/leisure/destination wedding trip to Jaipur is mandatory. Their no-fuss food menu features eclectic salads, delicious sandwiches, and decadent quiches – some of the best we’ve had in the city. . It’s serving a wholesome fare made using the freshest produce, in a fashionable setting so #DSSCRecommends you add this to your bucket list for a relaxed evening when in the Pink City, and while you’re at it, their crunchy Thai bean salad is not to be missed. . #DSSC #DSSCFood #Jaipur #AnokhiCafe #breakfast #fresh #tasty #foodie #delish #delicious #eating #foodpic #foodpics #eat #hungry #digestive #instafood #foodstagram #nomnom #eeeeeats #yum #yummy #amazing #sweet #salads

For the best, most bohemian fashion and decor fix + some organic food to die for. Anokhi is a Jaipur tradition full with cane muddhas. We suggest you go here for an afternoon of shopping and lunchin’!

Teatro Dhora

Artisanal indie brand Dhora’s studio in Jaipur is a must-visit. Stocked away from the typical hustle-bustle of the city, this store is full of similar indie brands alongside the namesake. Plus the interior of the store is extremely soothing and inspiring.

Patrika Gate

We can’t even with this beautiful facade of the Patrika Gate. Located near the very lush and green JLN Marg in Jaipur, this is a photographer’s dream. The blush pink outside, and the kaleidoscopic inside makes for it to be a surreal combination of traditional motifs and new-age palettes!

The Sculpture Park

Much like Kochi has its Biennale, and Delhi has the Art Fair – Jaipur has the most intriguing exhibit in form of the installations set up at the Sculputre Park in Nahargarh. The place evokes the most Rajput feelings, but endorses contemporary artists with their eclectic art!

City Palace

For me this photo shows the colours of India. When I travel I see countries in colours: Norway is green in summer and white in winter, Oman is orange and India is pinkish-orange and blue. Blue stands for the sky and the water, while pinkish-orange symbolizes the finest architecture and the soil of this impressive land. For me, those are the colours of India. 🔼🔽QUESTION for today: are you seeing country in colours? Give me some examples? 🔽This photo is a part of the campaign of @incredibleindia and @time magazine🔼 ❤❤❤ #incredibleindiaofficial #incredibleindia#indiabestpic #indiadaily #indiadiaries #exploreindia #discoverindia#indiablogtrain #palaceonwheels #jaipur #jaipurdiaries #jaipurcity #jaipurlove #pinkcity #pinkcityjaipur #india_pictures #indiatravelgram #indiagram #indiaclicks #indialove #citypalace #citypalacejaipur #theIndia100 #ad

This is the exception to the rule. The City Palace is gorgeous and ethereal! Every nook and corner of this majestic place is sublime. Colour coordinated and structurally ingenuous, this is a place you just need to go on your Jaipur trip.

This is literally a patisserie you can’t afford to miss out on. The space is marshmallow white across a green blanket, the sweet stock ranges from teensy meet-cute treats like macarons, to delicious eat-all- you can cakes!

Bar and Caffe Palladio

Both of these places are literally unlike anything you have ever seen, or unlike anywhere you have ever been. So much so, that Sonam Kapoor actually wanted one of her wedding function’s to have a similar aesthetic to Bar Palladio. The bar is actually an experience, a stone’s throw away is the cafe which is a dream sunny day manifested in reality.

This art haven is also a cultural staple of the pink city. It houses exhibitions, installations, talks, seminars, everything and is now home to a wonderful cafe called Quaint. Go to JKK to immerse in typically Jaipur-esque artistic sensibilities without the over the top royal aesthetics!

Albert Hall Museum

Another Jaipur staple which is so underrated, it is a travesty. The establishment pays homage to Rajputana traditions and stocks exhibitions that have archaic armours, textiles, etc. The inside and outside of Albert Hall is nostalgic, beautiful, and very typically Jaipur!

Lakshmi Mishthan Bhandar

Rajasthani thali, doodh fenni, the overarching old city facades, and the smell of fresh block prints, clay bangles, and musky leather. Going to LMB is like taking in everything that Jaipur has to offer in one go.

Sujan Rajmahal Palace

Baby pink, luxe blue, and an architecture that is like a Wes Anderson movie unfolding, this boutique luxury hotel offers a great experience. If you don’t want to go lodging in, just go to their little bistro – Fifty Shades of Pink. Trust us, it will make you googly eyed!
