Let’s go ahead and see what I’m talking about. Bet you’re not going to regret this.

Umian Lake

Also popularly known as ‘Barapani’ by the locals, this lake is a reservoir in the hills, 15kms north of Shillong in the state of Meghalaya, India. The prime catch of this place is the spectacular lake view from the roads above and a boathouse (hotel) which you can only reach through a fun motorboat ride. The ride through the lake is the most enjoyable part as the cool breeze and the amazing scenic beauty takes you to a whole new world of the aesthetics of nature. This lake has an amazing number of tourists stopping by for a little break from their voyage to enjoy the beautiful lake view below. People enjoy it over a warm cup of tea, corn, Maggie and various other munchies. The best time to visit the place is during sunset as the orange sky and the crystal clear water will blow your mind away.

Krang suri falls

This is the most beautiful waterfall which is located on the way towards Jowai, Meghalaya. It had remained pretty much undiscovered by tourists until last year. Since then it has been flooded by people who come to enjoy the breathtaking view of clear blue water and the camping site just a few meters away from the waterfall. For people who love staying amidst nature and can feel the love and purity of it should definitely add this place to their bucket list. You can spend your entire day relishing by the falls and also get a chance to take a dip in the natural blue swimming pool. How fun is that!?

Mawlynnong Village

This small village in the East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya is also known as God’s Own Garden and all for the right reasons. Mawlynnong won the status of being the cleanest village not just in India, but in Asia. It is a magical paradise which is the home to the unique living root bridge and one can also grab a bird’s view of India and Bangladesh from the Sky View Point. The tribal locals of the place are an example to live by considering their ethics and determination to keep their village clean. A major landmark of this village is the Church of Epiphany which is a 100-year-old structure that still holds an old-world charm. This is a place where you can truly find peace and spend a few chilled out days in tranquillity.

A small boarder town in the Jaintia Hills, Dawki and its famed river Umngot is well-known for its tourism scene, with many people flocking to the city in order to experience a boat ride and enjoy the nearby sights and sounds. The river is so astonishingly clear and green that it almost seems to be transparent to the eye. People enjoy boating and swimming in the see-through river.  The city becomes a hotbed of tourist activities especially during the spring months as it hosts the boat riding competition on the river. The greenery all around with the breeze from the cold water and the beautiful suspension bridge on the river makes Dawki a place worth a visit.

Golf Links

The sprawling, lush green 18-holed Shillong Golf Course is beautiful and is one of the oldest in Asia. The golf ground is set in scenic beauty and charming surroundings at over 5000 feet. It is a ground full of Pine and Rhododendron trees. You can see only greenery all around and it gives you a feeling of tranquillity. Amidst the city life of Shillong, it acts as a get away from the bustling madness of the city. It is also the best place to visit with family for a picnic as you can find a private space for yourselves in the huge field to spend your entire day looking over the endless green carpet.
