Abhishek Bachchan On His Broken Engagement With Karisma Kapoor
Bachchans and Kapoors are big names of the Indian film industry who have been friends for a long time, but it was the year 2002 when the entire nation was waiting for their dosti to turn into rishtedari.
While they were already related by a marriage as Raj Kapoor’s grandson, Nikhil Nanda was married to Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter Shweta Bachcahan, it was Abhishek Bachchan and Karisma Kapoor’s wedding shenanigans that the country was waiting for.

The two actors who were dating each other for five long years decided to take their relationship to the next level. That’s not it. Abhishek Bachchaan’s mother, Jaya Bachchan introduced her then to be daughter in law Karisma Kapoor and said, “I would, with the Bachchan and Nanda family, welcome another family into our group and that’s the Kapoors – Randhir and Babita Kapoor. And to-be my daughter-in-law, Karisma Kapoor. That’s Abhishek’s gift to his parents on his father’s 60th birthday.”

Well, Jaya Bachchan could never get that gift as destiny had different plans. The couple’s engagement was called off a few months later and nobody could digest the news of their breakup.
In an interview with Simi Garewal when Abhishek Bachchan was asked about his broken engagement and how he has been dealing with it, he said, “Don’t cry because it happened. Certain things in life just don’t work out and that’s fine you have to walk. I have no ill feelings towards anybody. I am not a bitter person, I am not negative. You have to accept that things weren’t intended.”

Now the actor is happily married to Aishwarya Rai Bachhan and has a beautiful daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
