Getting married is often touted as the most beautiful journey a person can embark upon. Well, at least one of the most beautiful. But with everything new comes a million dramatic obstacles; some genuine and some a result of our incessant stress-out sessions. And that’s what creates a bridezilla. So here are some ways you can have a calm lead-up to your special day without firing off like a cannonball.
1. CALM DOWN
Most importantly. Take a deep breath, or twenty. You need to make sure that you are aware of the change you will be experiencing but that that change will be essentially gradual and a lot of people will be there to help you out. So you need to relax a little, and let things take their due course.
Family and friends are your most important assets in life, and if you ever need them they are literally always there. So right now make the most of that. Delegate tasks to them, and don’t try to micromanage everything in a way that it makes you stir-crazy. You will have tonnes of things to take care of anyway, so don’t overburden your back!
3. SPA, SPA, SPA
When all else fails, spa! Even after a crazy work week, we all need to rewind and take some alone time at a spa, so it is quite justified that you will need to rejuvenate, a lot. Book yourself spa sessions in between the manic schedule so you aren’t heavily strained and are balancing all the madness with adequate calm.
4. STICK TO A NORMAL SCHEDULE
Yes, this is easier said than done, but you must do this at least for the basic activities you do during the day – whether it’s working out, or your meal times, or your professional routine. The more you internalize the incoming big change and make it part of your regular regimen, the sooner you will be able to adjust to it all and not fear it!
5. DATE NIGHT
This is so important! Don’t, in the frenzied state of affairs, neglect your fiancé. Chances are that they are experiencing everything in a very similar fashion. Regroup, meet, discuss, and be in this together. Plus before you both become husband-wife, this is your chance to still be in the adorable dating phase!
6. DON’T GO ON A MAD DIET
Sure, everyone wants to look flawless on your big, big day. But being skinny doesn’t equate to looking flawless. If you want to lose some weight, enroll yourself in a Yoga class, or a fun Zumba class -don’t go on an excessive diet or feature in some drastic changes to your otherwise normal workout routine. Trust us, you don’t want to lose out on the glow on your big day and starving yourself will be a deterrent to that.
7. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE PEOPLE
Leading up to the wedding you will encounter a million people who will hound you with unnecessary questions and give unsolicited advice, and chances are you can’t escape them. But you can surround yourself with positive happy people who will prepare you for all the changes, be there throughout your journey, and help you master the art of meeting and mingling with a lot of people without losing your cool.
